Nobody likes a cold sore. But did you know that over 90% of American adults have been exposed to the virus (HSV-1)? Even though exposure is common, the virus often remains dormant depending on the individual. For the vast majority of people who do show signs of exposure, a new natural remedy has become available.
When Aubio Life Sciences approached bfw to assist them with their revolutionary product, we jumped at the opportunity to spread the word about a product that has the potential to help so many people feel more beautiful and confident.
Aubio is a life science personal skincare company on a mission to change the world with proven plant based technologies. They currently have two products – cold sore cream and lip balm – both over the counter. The purpose of this project was to launch and create awareness for Aubio as a brand, while selling units of their current product at retail locations — including Target & CVS — as well as online partners — such as Amazon.

Cold sores have always had a largely negative connotation associated with them. That being said, we needed to remove the focus surrounding the word “cold sore,” and instead drive attention towards helping people feel beautiful and more confident. Through a number of our branding initiatives, bfw and Aubio have successfully migrated consumer attention towards feeling beautiful, following the use of the product.

The best part? Aubio doesn’t just stop at cold sores. From the beginning, bfw recognized the potential for Aubio to not only be a cold sore remedy, but also for its potential to treat other skin conditions such as acne and shingles.
From this perspective, we were able to craft an integrated print, TV and digital campaign that not only highlights Aubio’s effectiveness at getting rid of cold sores, but also leaves the door open for its practical beauty-related benefits to come to fruition as the product line progresses.
